Anatoli Ivanishin
Russian cosmonaut: long-duration spaceflight, crew training and the engineering routine that keeps a mission running.
About Anatoli Ivanishin
Irkutsk, the training centre outside Moscow, the steppe at the launch site and, for months at a time, four hundred kilometres above all of it — that is the range this work covers. Years of preparation buy you a seat, and then the days in orbit pass quickly: experiments, maintenance, repairs, and the window when there is time for it. I talk about the training more than the launch, because that is where the work really is.
