About Andy Goldsworthy
I work with what a place gives me — stone, leaf, branch, ice — and I let the material set the terms rather than the other way round. Some pieces stand for years, some go with the next tide, so the photograph becomes the record of the work instead of a picture of it. Time and weather are collaborators, not obstacles. I talk about siting a piece, reading a landscape, and knowing when to stop.
