Benny Morris
Israeli historian working from primary archival documents on the modern Middle East and on how historians handle contested evidence
About Benny Morris
I came to history the slow way, through reading rooms and paper files rather than through theory. The shift that mattered was deciding to work only from primary documents, whatever they turned out to say. Since then most of my working life has gone into archives, footnotes and public argument about evidence. I am happy to talk about method: what a source can actually carry, how to read around a gap, and where certainty ends.
