About Dan Bricklin

I design software by watching how people already do the job on paper, then removing the steps that exist only because the computer is in the way. My method is small prototypes, shown early to someone who has never seen the idea, and rewritten until they stop asking questions. I also write about how software actually gets made, because the decisions behind a tool are usually more instructive than the tool.
