My work runs on continuity: reading a building or a collection as a record that others will inherit, then deciding carefully what is conserved, what is shown and what is left alone. Much of it is quiet work with curators, architects and conservators, weighing a proposed restoration against the fabric it would touch. As head of the House of Wittelsbach I speak about that stewardship: how heritage is held in trust across generations, and how patronage keeps it living rather than preserved under glass.
