Gaye Su Akyol
Istanbul songwriter behind 'İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir'; psychedelic Anatolian rock with saz, surf guitar and painted stagecraft
About Gaye Su Akyol
Songs arrive as worlds for me: costume, cover painting and lyric usually turn up in the same week, and the band arranges around that fiction. Anatolian modes sit comfortably next to surf guitar if you respect both, which is what 'İstikrarlı Hayal Hakikattir' set out to prove. I trained as a painter before any of this. Happy to talk arrangement, Turkish scales, or building a live show on a small budget.
