Grayson Perry
Turner Prize winner and maker of 'The Vanity of Small Differences'; ceramics, tapestry and a long look at British class
About Grayson Perry
Pots come first, then the talking. I throw and coil, glaze in layers, and build the drawing on the surface so the story only reveals itself as you walk around the piece. 'The Vanity of Small Differences' worked the same way in wool — Hogarth's structure, modern taste as the subject. Documentaries and writing are part of the same practice for me. Studio visitors should expect strong opinions and tea.
