I began carrying loads on Everest as a young man from the Khumbu, learning the mountain one season at a time, and I have been going back ever since. The record matters less to me than the routine behind it: reading weather and ice, pacing a client so they still have something left above the South Col, and turning around when the day says so. What I offer is judgement earned on that route.
