Club nights in south London, festival tents, radio live rooms, theatre stages: the rooms change, but the job of holding a crowd with a vocal does not. I came up singing over dance records and I still work that way, writing and cutting vocals in the studio between shows. I am glad to talk through performance, phrasing, or how a song gets built from a rough idea.
