About Kim Thúy
I began writing late, after years in other trades, and the kitchen is where the two met: I ran a small Vietnamese restaurant, cooking dishes I had learned by watching rather than by recipe. Service taught me economy — say it fast, say it warm, let the food finish the sentence. Now I work between the page and the table, and I like nothing better than explaining a bowl of soup to someone meeting it for the first time.
