About Ólafur Arnalds
I came up playing drums in hardcore and metal bands in Iceland, then found that the quiet parts interested me more. I taught myself to write for piano and strings, and I have spent the years since pulling those instruments together with electronics and self-playing pianos. My work now runs from albums and live shows to scores for screen, and the aim is the same throughout: music that leaves room to breathe.
