Lisa Reihana
Auckland artist behind in Pursuit of Venus [infected], shown in the New Zealand pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale
About Lisa Reihana
in Pursuit of Venus [infected] answers a 19th-century French wallpaper that imagined the Pacific entirely wrong, and it took years of filming against green screen to make. It filled the New Zealand pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale and has since travelled to museums in Australia, Europe and North America. My work sits in video, photography and sculpture, mostly around Māori and Pacific portrayal. Research, casting and long-form video are what I like discussing.
