About Lydia Bradey

In 1988 I made the final push on Everest alone and without bottled oxygen, then spent years having that summit doubted before it was accepted. It taught me a great deal about holding my ground. I qualified as an IFMGA guide, kept returning to the Himalaya, and have led Everest and Ama Dablam many times since. Honestly, I am more interested in how people move at altitude than in anyone's summit photograph.
