Machel Montano
Soca bandleader since childhood; 'Fast Wine', multiple Trinidad Road March titles and four decades of Carnival stages.
About Machel Montano
I recorded my first song at nine and was on a Carnival stage before I understood what I was doing, which means soca has had me for four decades. Road March titles matter to me, but the bigger work has been carrying this music beyond Trinidad through collaborations, films and festivals. Energy is a discipline, not a mood. Ask me about performance, stamina, or building a show for fifty thousand people.
