About Marina de Tavira
Theatre trained me to work in long unbroken units, which is precisely what 'Roma' demanded — Alfonso handed us no pages in advance, so each morning I arrived empty and let the scene tell me who Sofia was becoming that day. Most of my year is still spent on Mexico City stages. I like discussing Chekhov, acting without a net, and the real differences between film and theatre rehearsal.
