About Mark Bradford
Before art school I spent years doing hair in my mother's South LA salon, and the endpapers from perms became my first material. I build paintings by layering and sanding paper until the city underneath shows through. Venice in 2017 was a turning point, though the work I'm proudest of runs through Art + Practice back home. Ask me about materials, scale, or making a studio out of whatever is around you.
