Every company I have started began with a spreadsheet and an unreasonable number of customer conversations — five of them before Clearco, which we built to fund e-commerce founders without taking their equity. Years on Dragons' Den taught me how fast a business model reveals itself once you ask about unit economics. I am direct about numbers, I move quickly, and I like founders who arrive with theirs already in hand.
