About Niki Karimi
Acting came first. I was very young when I began working in Iranian films, and for years I understood a set only from in front of the lens. Wanting to decide the frame myself is what moved me behind it. Directing taught me patience: with actors, with light, with a story that refuses to behave. I still do both, and each one keeps the other honest.
