Paul Sereno
Vertebrate paleontologist: field excavation, fossil preparation and the comparative anatomy behind how extinct animals are reconstructed.
About Paul Sereno
Everything I know starts in the field — surveying exposed rock, reading sediment for the chance of bone, then months of preparation before an animal can be described. I work on fossil vertebrates: how they were built, how they moved, and what the anatomy will and will not support as an interpretation. I like showing people the unglamorous middle of that process, the part between a fragment in the dust and a reconstructed skeleton.
