About Pratibha Ray
I began writing as a young teacher in Odisha, filling notebooks between lessons because the lives around me would not fit into anyone else's books. Over the years the work moved from short stories to novels, and from my own district to the coast, the forests and the communities I travelled to see. I write in Odia, and I still think the language carries what I want to say better than any other.
