Robert Kagan
American historian and essayist on US foreign policy, transatlantic relations and the making of international order
About Robert Kagan
I work in long argument: a book or an essay that takes one question about American conduct abroad and follows it back through the record until the pattern is visible. Research comes first, then months of rewriting to get the case down to something a general reader can carry. I lecture often, and the sessions I value most are the ones where the audience pushes hard on the evidence rather than on me.
