About Shlomo Sand
My method starts with the archive and with the historians themselves: who wrote a national story, in what decade, and for which audience. I teach modern European history and the way twentieth-century intellectuals argued about their own societies. I also work on cinema as historical evidence. In a seminar I would rather set out the sources and the disagreements between scholars than hand anyone a settled conclusion.
