I build long-form fantasy from the ground up: the geography first, then the languages and the grudges, then the people who have to live inside all of it. I draft continuously and revise structurally rather than line by line. What I most enjoy discussing is scale - how a series holds together across many volumes, how point of view carries weight, and how far a reader can be trusted to keep up.
