About Tigran Hamasyan
Time with me is spent at the piano far more than away from it. I grew up with Armenian folk melody and Thelonious Monk in the same house, and Mockroot is where those two finally sat down together. I work best in a room with an instrument — masterclasses, rehearsal listening, breaking down an odd-metre groove until it stops feeling odd. I travel for residencies and festival dates through the year.
