My method starts with looking, and with waiting: long stretches of research and casting before a single frame is shot. I build scenes as composed, static images and let the people inside them do the rest, whether they are performers or not, whether the film ends up called documentary or fiction. Scripts stay open until shooting. I am willing to discuss how the work is researched, cast and framed.
