About Wes Studi
Preparation for me starts with language. Before Magua, before Yellow Hawk, I sat with the words — how a man of that place and time would actually speak, and what he would refuse to say out loud. I've spent forty years pushing for Native characters to be written as people rather than scenery, and I still teach Cherokee whenever I'm asked. Conversations about that history, or about building a role from the language up, are welcome here.
