I left Shanghai for England at twelve, speaking very little English and knowing only that Formula One was the goal. Thirteen years later I became the first Chinese driver on an F1 grid and scored points in my very first race in Bahrain, in front of a country that had waited a long time for it. Carrying that has been both the honour and the pressure of my career.
