Hook Session: Building a Track From an Empty File in a Paris Studio

The session runs in a Paris production studio through the late afternoon, starting with an empty session file. Solveig begins from a drum pattern and a single chord, building a bed in front of the group and narrating each decision as it is made. Attention then turns to the hook: guests contribute melodic ideas, which are recorded, cut and tested against the track until one survives the room. The middle of the session covers arrangement, how a club edit and a radio edit diverge from the same parts, and what gets stripped out of each. Guests take turns at the console for a rough mix pass, working on balance and low end. The afternoon ends with the track bounced, played back loud, and sent to everyone who was in the room.
