Rope Day on the Cotswold Escarpment and an Expedition Debrief

The day begins at a stone barn outside town with tea, a kit issue and an hour on the floor tying and re-tying the knots that will be used later. A short drive brings the group to a limestone crag on the escarpment, where the morning goes on footwork and movement on easy-angled rock, climbing in short pitches with corrections given as they happen. The afternoon turns to systems: abseiling, ascending a fixed rope and a simple hauling set-up, each rigged and run until it is repeatable. Back at the barn, supper is served and the last hour is a debrief, with maps and photographs out on the table and each guest's own planned route talked through, including what it will take, what to train and what to leave behind.
