Conservation Morning: Hospital Round and a Koala Habitat Planting

The morning starts early at a wildlife hospital, where guests are shown through to the viewing side of the treatment room for the day's intake round. A koala assessment runs first, covering weight, hydration, chest and chart, with each step explained as it happens, followed by a walk past the rehabilitation enclosures and an account of how an animal moves from rescue to release. The group then travels to a revegetation block on the escarpment, where seedlings, guards and stakes are already staged. Guests plant a marked row, water it in and set the guards, then stop for morning tea on the block while the wildlife corridor this planting is meant to join is traced out on a map. Everyone leaves with the block's location and its species list.
