About this experience
Guests arrive at the coastal expedition base on the Friday afternoon and are walked through the vehicle bays, the water purification and mosquito net kit, and the route maps from past crossings of the continent. The afternoon covers convoy discipline, load planning and packing a long-range vehicle properly. Guests then take turns on a sand and dune-track circuit, working through recovery drills with boards and a winch. Dinner is around the fire, where the host talks through how a humanitarian expedition is funded, permitted and delivered village by village. Saturday is given to navigation on paper and satellite, river crossing assessment, and a short coastal run before a closing braai. The group is small enough that every guest drives, and is recovered, at least twice.
