Winter Expedition Skills Camp Above Château-d'Œx

Guests gather at a chalet base in the Pays-d'Enhaut on the first morning for a kit inspection and a route briefing over maps of the surrounding ridgelines. The group then climbs on skins or snowshoes to a high shoulder, working on navigation, snowpack assessment and pacing across a long afternoon. Evening returns to the chalet for a hot meal and a working session on how long expeditions are planned, provisioned and, when necessary, abandoned. The second day begins before first light with a summit push run to a fixed turnaround time, followed by a descent and a debrief on every decision taken along the way. Numbers are kept low so each guest walks within speaking distance of the host and can ask questions on the move.
