The next cohort starts in October and I have spent two weeks rewriting the first prompt. It was four hundred words. Now it is nine. Most of the work in teaching is deciding what to leave out, and then sitting with the discomfort of having left it out.

Ran a version of this exercise with my team last spring. The cutting is the lesson.
Curious whether the shorter prompt raises the floor or only the ceiling.
